Safety Wire
1 lb roll contains 362' of .032" (20 gauge, .81mm) of a malleable stainless steel alloy wire, for racing or aircraft applications.
Normally safety wire is threaded through a hole drilled into a fastener or part, and then twisted and anchored to a second location, then twisted again. This secures the nut or part, preventing vibration from loosening the fastening during operation.
Known as safetying.
The safety wire should be threaded through the fastener such that it creates tension in the opposite direction of the fastener's removal.
For example, if a standard automotive bolt in the U.S. is being secured, then the safety wire should put tension on the bolt in a clockwise direction, the direction the bolt turns when being tighten.

Safety wiring insures parts stay on your vehicle, but twisting the wire in tight quarters can be difficult. Longacre Safety Wire Pliers solves that problem with several quick pulls on the knob.
Also used in twisting silver wire by jewelers and crafters, puts an even uniform twist in any wire by clamping the wire in the jaws of the pliers, then pulling the knob at the base of the pliers untill the desired amount of twist is achieved.
Use the side cutters built into the pliers to trim the twisted wire, and then tuck the cut end of the wires under for a snag-free finish.
